GMD (Go Make Disciples) Crossroads: This week’s GMD Crossroads entry comes from Rev. Chris Paavola’s June 2, Facebook post. The post is kind of a brilliant “Please Think About This” plea!! Here it is(slightly edited): Let's stop reducing “faithfulness” to having correct doctrine or correct morality. It also means reaching people for Jesus.

In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus says being "faithful" isn't just about being safe with, or preserving, the Master's wealth. The words He uses for this mentality are "wicked" and "lazy".

According to Jesus, "faithful" are those who ALSO work hard and take calculated risks (walking by faith) to earn more gold for the Master. It's fruitfulness that Jesus praises as both "good" and "faithful".

Should we guard our life and doctrine closely (1 Timothy 4:16)? Of course! It's the Master's gold. But in the parable, the only ones who put “confessional” and “missional” at odds with each other are gnashing their teeth in the outer darkness.
