Our mission at Next Step Press is to cultivate the kinds of people and resources that help you delight in taking a next step following Jesus. In response to a request from a congregation in New York, we developed a Family Devotion Calendar for the season after Lent. It’s based on the resource Come, Holy Spirit: A Daily Discipleship Travel Log for Easter to Pentecost.
Each day has a brief reading, question, or family activity we hope will be fun while also supporting your family on their journey of faith. Don’t feel like you have to do every one of the activities; maybe pick two or three of your favorites during the week and run an experiment to see if they help your family take a small next step. You don’t have to have a copy of the book to use the calendar, but it certainly helps.
Different groups and individuals need different kinds of resources, so you can find a download below that fits your family, small group, school, or congregation. You can use this resource in any of those settings without cost to you because of the heart and generosity of our Next Step Patrons. For more information on resourcing our mission and ministry, visit Next Step Press on Patreon. Patrons make it possible!
God bless you and your family as you take a small next step. And thank you for using a Next Step resource! We follow Jesus better when we follow him together!
When was the last time you prayed for the Holy Spirit? The person and work of the Spirit sometimes seem mysterious, if not confusing. We pray to the Father and the Son while the Spirit often remains behind the scenes, a silent partner in God’s Work in the world. But the Scriptures envision so much more.
Feeling kind of stuck in your faith walk? You are not alone.
Introducing My Next Step: A How-To Companion for People who Want to Follow Jesus (But Sometimes Get Stuck).
We know we are supposed to be followers of Jesus … But how? What does it even mean to “follow” Jesus in today’s world? What attitudes and habits help you take a small next step, and then another, and then another? What do you do if you get off track?
The My Next Step series provides real help for real people who want to follow Jesus, but sometimes get stuck. In these pages, you won’t find the secret formula that makes faith easy. You won’t find three sure-fire tips for tackling doubt. You won’t even find the one right way to improve your relationship with Jesus. Instead, you’ll find a gracious framework for following, laid in love, with practical, real-life faith experiments that help you explore ways you might take a small next step.
Feeling kind of stuck in your faith walk? You are not alone.
The adventure continues with Volume 2: Who’s on Your Rope?, where we’ll lean into the blessings of having someone (anyone!) walking with you as you move forward in faith. Then we’ll explore how to engage Jesus in his Word and look for the work of the divine Sculptor in your life as the Spirit shapes a unique response in you. Be part of the ongoing journey that moves forward with Volume 2!
In this final volume of the My Next Step series, we put it all together. Everything we’ve looked at up to this point has been geared at helping you take a small next step.
Now we will turn that learning into a Standard Following Procedure flexible enough to be useful in almost any situation, robust enough to stand the test of time, and simple enough to be put into practice in your everyday life. You want to take a small next step. Then another. Then another. This book will help.
The My Next Step Journalis designed to support your discipleship adventure. In it, you will find guided faith experiments, focused prayers, key bible verses, and plenty room to record what Jesus is doing in your life.
